The wine releases a very melted black liquorice, red and black fruits in slight overripe interspersed with olives, cocoa and truffles. Very fresh in its entirety despite a hyper concentration, the whole appears of a very feminine harmony. The finals are of great length and impressive fluidity. A Châteauneuf du Pape from the most beautiful complex plots, delicious, precise, balanced and distinguished.
“The top bottled wine here is the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Cotes Capelan, which is about 80% Grenache, with Mourvèdre and Syrah accounting for the balance. It starts off a bit closed, so splash it around or decant it a bit in advance of serving to see floral notes blossom, followed by mixed red and black cherries and berries. Medium to full-bodied, it's incredibly silky and long on the licorice-tinged finish.” 96rp
